The current administration led our country to a war under false pretenses. The Iraq War has weakened our economy, diminished our influence in the world, and has put the United States in greater danger of new terrorist threats. Our troops have fought heroically and have done an amazing job trying to bring stability to a troubled region, but at some point our troops must leave so the Iraqi government can govern and defend themselves. Rather than wait several years to begin removing troops, we must face that challenge now with a phased U.S. withdrawal. With the United States spending $12 billion dollars a month on a civil war in Iraq, it is time we bring our troops safely home and begin to re-build our lost credibility around the world and invest in America again.
